Winters Cactus
A very good friend passed away today. He was our neighbor. He became part of our family. He took care of us. Would give our daughter small treasure boxes (cigar boxes), share his wine with us and tell us stories of his youth. He had the greenest thumb and taught me so much about keeping plants. He grew roses ,vegetables and loved his cactus....reminded him of the desert and the heat.
He'd be outside watering all of our gardens while smoking a cigar. I will miss that scent riding the air....after a days work, he would sit outside in a lawn chair with a beer and enjoy the evening. Summers were the best. We would all sit outside with him....talk about politics, the flowers, watch the kids play in the front lawn.
